The Loar Mandolins is a brand known for producing high-quality instruments inspired by the classic designs of the Golden Age of mandolin craftsmanship. All of their mandolins are made in a hand-carved workshop in China, which they operate themselves. Initially, the brand’s first model, the LM-500, was manufactured elsewhere but was eventually moved to their main workshop. Now, all current models are produced in this dedicated location.
The Loar’s mandolins are designed by Greg Rich, and they combine expert craftsmanship with classic vintage-inspired designs. They are particularly known for offering high-end features, such as Abalone/M.O.P. Florentine-style headstock inlays, at an affordable price. These instruments embody the spirit of rare and costly vintage mandolins from the Golden Age, and The Loar has become one of the most recommended import mandolins for their blend of craftsmanship, playability, and value.
